BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO PLANNER

Microsoft Planner is a technology that allows you to structure and monitor tasks for yourself or a team. Tasks can be described, divided into subtasks, commented on, assigned, and marked as started, in progress or completed. This makes Microsoft Planner useful as a tool for managing a project or a portfolio of assignments.

PEDAGOGICAL ADVANTAGES

Planner is an effective tool for managing projects and other processes consisting of many different tasks. In Planner, tasks can be assigned to the group members responsible for completing them, and each task can be subdivided, commented on, and marked as completed. In this way, groups can gain a clear overview of the process they are engaged in and identify areas that may require additional attention.

Planner can be organised into different columns, which could, for example, be assigned to individual group members or divided into the various phases of a project.

By using Planner, groups have a shared space where tasks and agreements are recorded, so that any uncertainties in group work can be revisited and redefined.

As a lecturer, you can use Planner to manage your teaching schedule and other processes. You can access Planner on most devices, making it easy to add, update or delete tasks while on the move. Planner can also be used in supervision situations, where you can either gain insight into students’ project planners (by agreement, of course) or share a Planner with students yourself.

ACCESS

Microsoft Planner is part of the Office 365 suite. If you wish to access Office 365, you can find information on how to log in here.
