What is Office 365?
Office 365 is a bundle of apps, each one individually applicable in a curriculum. Office 365 contains well known apps like Word, PowerPoint and Excel, but new apps have been added – for example Forms, OneNote and Teams. The different apps can be used for anything from real-time connected writing to project work and peer-feedback, PowerPoint-presentations, and virtual supervisor-meetings if the students or the educator lives far away.
Pedagogical and didactic advantages
Office 365 is apps for production and cooperation where students and educators can interact at the same time. The possibilities for how and where Office can be utilized in the curriculum are plenty. For example, as an educator you can utilize OneNote before the lectures to produce a notebook for the students to - in collaboration – note doubts, questions, and reflections occurring in the lectures and pensum. These doubts and reflections can then be taken into account when you plan your curriculum. This way you can revisit the areas challenging the students. Another example are Forms, which can be utilized directly in the lectures. Forms can help to give the students variation by putting in small quizzes or polls, or questions for the students to answer. Thus Forms can provide interaction between the lecturer and the students.
